Blue Plaque unveiling for Nelly Thornton Spirit of Ecstasy model

Representatives from the RREC, the British Motor Museum, and the National Motor Museum attended, alongside members of Nelly’s family, including her great‑grandson Tim Moorby, who unveiled the plaque. Guests shared stories about Nelly’s life, her work in early motoring circles, and her long, deeply personal relationship with Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, who commissioned sculptor Charles Sykes to create the Spirit of Ecstasy - believed to be inspired by Nelly herself.
